Many downtown Newton businesses are now open, and most have adapted their business models to serve our community. We encourage you to #shoplocal in Newton!

It’s time for us all to support local businesses who’ve seen lower revenues in the last few months. Get gift cards to use yourself or send it to a loved one. Buying local keeps 63% of your money in the community vs. 14% of money spent at chains, and many have adopted steps to minimize the risk through physical distancing, online ordering, delivery, or curb-side pick up. Always wash your hands 20 seconds after going out or coming in contact with a product that has been delivered.

A few businesses have had to close, but the good news is we have several new places you may not know! Drive down, take a stroll through the neighbourhood, get to know them, and connect with the stores and restaurants you’ve come to know and love.

True Fit Denture Centre
504-7380 King George Blvd 604-503-1190

True Fit Dental in Newton quickly recognized the struggle that many of their customers had during the past few months. They were unable to visit due to living in seniors facilities or merely struggling to leave the house.

Sarwar Sarwari had the solution. “I always strive to be one step ahead, thinking about how to improve and make our service accessible to everyone in need. The idea of a mobile service was emerging in my head and slowly shaping from a dream to a concrete plan. Little did I know it would happen much faster than intended.

Today, we are steadily adjusting to new ways of being as we are pushed out of our comfort zones. My dream became a reality, and I am very excited about Sure Fit (the True Fit mobile van) bringing smiles to those unable to visit our True Fit clinic for various reasons.

Sure Fit is a fully equipped clinic on wheels.

Our team of professionals is perfectly capable of delivering services to patients at the convenience of their own homes, care homes, hospitals, and remote locations. Thoroughly following required health standards, by bringing Sure Fit to our patients, we try to eliminate their exposure to high-risk surroundings as much as possible without compromising the quality of the services provided.

This is my helping hand to everyone and my community, and I feel very blessed with this opportunity. And don’t we all need more smiles today and every day? Let’s keep bringing them to everyone.”

Taste of Himalayas
7115 138 St #209, 778-564-2010

Have you ever tasted a momo? You haven’t lived! It’s a delicious Tibetan-style steamed or fried filled dumpling, served with various spicy and flavorful heat levels. It can be vegetarian or chicken.

Either way, it’s simply delicious, and Bikal Tiwari has mastered this creation.

He’s won awards at the Surrey Fusion Festival for the best food truck serving thousands of them. He has a very loyal clientele and invites you to become one of them.

Taste of Himalayas is tucked into the former Safeway (now Chalos) mall. Although he welcomes phone-in orders and Skip the Dishes, he also has some defined seating available.

Himalayan food has to be experienced. It’s not Indian. It’s not Chinese. Its unique flavor profile always makes you want more. The extensive menu offers everything from tasty lamb, chicken, and vegetarian dishes. Bikal’s dishes are characterized by his approach to cooking, spice control, and presentation. He makes each dish from scratch, addressing your heat tolerance.
