People are not social distancing from flowers

Dolly Randhawa walked away from a successful career as an administrative professional to devote her time, talent and passion into the floral industry. Twelve years ago, she bought the Surrey Flower Shop, which had been in the same location for years.

“I looked at several locations, but chose this one, because Newton deserves and needs a place where they can purchase a quality bouquet for a loved one, or have us deliver flowers.” she said.

If life during the pandemic has taught Dolly anything, it’s that people are not socially distancing from flowers! The period of pandemic has been very difficult for many businesses in Newton and throughout the world. Florists like Dolly and her beautiful Surrey Flower Shop have had to adapt to reach out to their customers, and provide the finest product available.

“There have been challenges. Prices for flower stock have increased incredibly during this last year. COVID-19 crippled the wedding industry. But we’re very busy helping people send happy greetings for new births, anniversaries and birthdays, and also condolences at emotional times such as funerals, where people can often only send their love through a bouquet, or a simple ‘I love you and miss you’ to a friend in quarantine. Everyone always appreciates flowers.”

“We’re very proud of our distinctive designs and the finest flowers available in the marketplace. It is what sets us apart from your typical ‘big box store’. Our customers are important to us, so we always try to provide them with the very best. And they come back!”

Greeted by friendly store mascot, ‘Ollie’, the shop smells like an English country garden with beautiful arrangements and stock. Dolly and her staff are happily busy these days, and currently looking to hire staff to help keep up with the demand.

“We’re looking for someone with an artistic eye for design. We specialize in really fresh flowers and take pride in creating a design that is not only creative, but long lasting.”

The store follows current COVID-19 restrictions; offers curbside pickup & delivery.
