“How do you fix a community? You need to galvanize the community to be proud and to be part of the moving change forward.”
Those words were spoken by Newton BIA director Philip Aguirre in January 2015.
At the very least, the community has taken a big step in that direction.
Newton BIA held its inaugural Spooktacular event Saturday in the underground of Save-On-Foods and it was, by any measure, a terrific success.
Children could take in a Halloween movie at the mini-theatre, give go-carting a whirl, stop by the petting zoo, take a ride on the train, show off their best moves with zombies on the dance floor and hit up the photo booth. This, all in addition to lots of free food and goodies, a pumpkin patch and a plethora of crafts.
Those who were there sensed it – this event truly created a sense of community.
